“We loved our stay at Riu Yucatan! They made it easy to get to and from the airport. We love the food options. Room service did an amazing job turning the rooms; they also decorated the room for our sons birthday! This made the stay even more magical!! Steak house got a cake ready pretty quickly for his birthday as well! Gustavo! Thank you for making yoga, training and dancing fun! The t-shirt making was fun for our son. The entertainment staff who did bingo with the kids on thursday 5/28/26 (i dont recall her name) was phenomenal also!! We will be back in a few years. Thank you”

“Just got back April 23rd and we cannot say enough good things about this resort!! Our first time staying at a Riu hotel and it did NOT disappoint! The food was amazing at every buffet, as well as the Italian restaurant however the steakhouse restaurant definitely lacked some quality in cuts of meat (ribs were awfully tough we couldn’t cut through the meat to eat them) and correct doneness for our steaks but overall was still a great experience. Rarely had to wait for a drink at the bars, staff were extremely friendly and the beach… omg the beach was stunning and HUGE! Yes there was seaweed almost every day but you can’t fight Mother Nature and in absolutely no way did it impede our enjoyment of the beach or ocean. The staff were constantly trying to keep up with it… the wildlife was a huge plus for our nature-loving family! 10/10 would recommend and would return to Riu Yucatan!”

“Our stay at the Riu Yucatan hotel was absolutely fantastic. The management specialy Restaurants and Front Desk staff are truly outstanding. Everyone was friendly, professional, and always willing to go above and beyond what is expected to make sure guests are happy. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The beach is lovely, the pool area is clean and relaxing, and we always felt very safe during our stay. The food was excellent with plenty of options, and the drinks were great as well. What really stood out was the service. The workers are incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests’ experience. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation and we would definitely return. Highly recommended!”

“The rooms were ok…we had a strong sewer smell come through on occasion and the beds were not very comfortable, but otherwise they were pretty clean and the cleaning service through the week was good. The service was good- from the front desk all the way to the cleaning crew. The activities were fairly fun and the employees work really hard to keep people happy. The food was decent and they try hard to bring variety to the buffet but the desserts could have been better. The Mexican restaurant was the best meal we had (shocker!) Be careful when you eat from the snack bar - check for bugs on the cold food. The drinks were great!”

“Just back from a wonderful holiday here. We would be back in a heartbeat as we were very spoiled. Staff and service were the best ive ever experienced. So lovely and helpful. Great choice of food every day. Complex spacious, not on top of each other. Be interested to see what the prices are like after the re furb. My Mum and I would be back in a heartbeat if not too much but so well worth the money.”

“We stayed at Riu Yucatan in Playacar area at the end of April (it’s our 2nd time at this hotel!) and had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel grounds are large, beautiful and very clean, with lots of cute animals roaming around — coatis, agoutis, iguanas and even little spider monkeys, which made the experience feel extra special and unique. The staff were consistently friendly, helpful and hardworking. Rooms were kept very clean and anytime we needed something, staff were quick to help. Restaurants didn’t need reservations (which we liked as it’s hard to plan & be on time with little kids). And the food was amazing — huge variety at the buffets, great desserts, and plenty of options for both adults and kids. Drinks and cocktails were delicious as well. One of our favourite little details was the smoothie bar in the mornings. Jose was especially kind and friendly and the fresh custom-made fresh fruit smoothies were amazing. They even offered different plant-based milk options like oat, almond and coconut milk. The beach was beautiful and very well maintained. Yes, there was more seaweed than usual THIS YEAR (like in many places across the Caribbean) but the hotel staff worked hard cleaning it every morning and the ocean was warm, very swimmable and absolutely enjoyable every day!!! One thing we personally really loved was the palm trees on the beach instead of palapas — it gave the beach such a tropical and beautiful look. There were always plenty of beach loungers available (see my pics). There were lots of evening shows and entertainment, plus access to parties (neon, white party) at sister hotels. We also loved the foam party at the pool. For kids, there were daily crafts and activities around late morning that my children were excited to attend every day. Just note that the Kids Club is for ages 4+ only and there is only a small water play area/playground for younger kids. One more thing families with kids may want to note: the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, but the shower area has a glass door with only a light curtain for privacy (the reason I gave rooms 4 out of 5 stars). It didn’t bother me personally, but with small kids around it could feel a little awkward for some families. Frosted glass or privacy film would be a great future upgrade! The hotel also has convenient extras like a small on-site convenience store, tours available, clean lobby washrooms AND SHOWERS you can use after checkout while waiting for your transfer. Overall, if you’re looking for a beautiful, relaxing resort with great food, friendly staff, fun entertainment and a gorgeous tropical beach atmosphere, Riu Yucatan is a fantastic choice!!”
